BIFM Ireland next networking event will be held on Thursday 26th October in The National Gallery of Ireland.
The National Gallery of Ireland has just completed a extensive renovation of much of its exhibition spaces, opening up new areas with natural light and introducing a new stunning internal courtyard area. As part of the renovation, the Gallery had to repair parts of the building and deal with fire upgrading, environmental controls and accessibility issues. It was also an opportunity to think about circulation routes, the use of buffer zones between the art galleries and 'control spaces' that need to be protected from direct daylight penetration as well as the challenge of creating a wonderful visitor experience.
The result is one of the most impressive exhibition spaces in the country and a credit to the Gallery staff, the Design Team and Contractors. The most recent figures now show that since reopening in June, it has become one of the top visitor attractions in Ireland. Christiaan Clotworthy, the Head of Operations for the National Gallery of Ireland, has kindly offered to host a visit to the site, and will be presenting a talk on what happened behind the scenes, a Before, During and After look at this wonderful endeavour.
Commencing at 18:30 on Thursday 26th October, we will be providing light refreshments, before Christiaan's talk. Details as follows:
18:30: Registration & Reception (BIFM)
19:00 National Gallery Renovation (Christiaan Clotworthy)
